About & Our Board

דּוֹר לְדוֹר יְשַׁבַּח מַעֲשֶׂיךָ

The Museum of the Scroll was founded on a simple conviction: that the Tanakh and the Sifrei Torah are not only sacred to read, but a heritage to protect. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving, studying, and sharing the scribal tradition of the Jewish people — the parchment, the ink, the letters, and the lives bound up in them.

Our mission

We conserve scrolls and Tanakh manuscripts in archival conditions, support the work and training of soferim, make these texts accessible to scholars and the public, and provide a dignified home for scrolls that synagogues, families, and communities can no longer keep. Everything we do is guided by reverence for the kedushah of the written word.

Preservation

Climate-controlled, archival care so that fragile parchment endures for generations to come.

Scholarship

Digitization and study that open these texts to researchers, students, and curious minds everywhere.

Tradition

Halachic guidance at every step, honoring the scribal practices passed down for thousands of years.

Our Board of Directors

The Museum is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who set our direction, safeguard our resources, and ensure we serve our mission with integrity.

The Museum of the Scroll is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We locate, document, and repair Sifrei Torah, place them with communities that will read from them, and teach the history and craft of the scribal tradition. Admission is free, our programs are open to the public, and all contributions fund this work.
